Owners and operators Ken and Chie fell in love with Furano when they moved here 12 years ago.　They eventually bought and renovated an abandoned farm house, adding their own style using local and recycled materials.

Over the years they welcomed many friends and family from Japan and overseas to the house. This brought them much joy, seeing them escape their busy lives and settle into the serenity of Japanese country life. This was the inspiration for them to build Element hotel, and where better than right next door!

Element hotel was architecturally designed, combining the vernacular barn style of Hokkaido, traditional Japanese architectural elements, and modern minimalism. The aim was to create warmth and tranquility, with the use of raw materials like recycled timber, relaxing colour tones, and a mix of intimate and spacious rooms with views of the surrounding mountains and country-scape. The communal living room is designed to spark conversation and bring people together around the fireplace, whilst the Japanese style mezzanine space is perfect for solitary relaxation.

Ken and Chie have a deep passion for showing people the beauty of the Furano region, and in the spirit of Japanese hospitality, known as “Omotenashi”, look forward to welcoming guests to Element and providing a unique experience like none other!
